Firefighter thermal imaging cameras (TICs) are infrared cameras that detect and visualise heat invisible to the naked eye, allowing firefighters to “see” through smoke and darkness to locate hot spots, find people, and plan attack strategies in fires and other emergencies. By converting heat patterns into a visible image, these cameras help firefighters understand the fire’s behaviour, identify risks, and operate more safely and effectively in dangerous environments.
